Drawn from the Kalamazoo Institute of Arts’ collection, this exhibition includes 32 works by American artists Stuart Davis (1892-1964), Marsden Hartley (1877-1943), John Marin (1870-1953), Charles Sheeler (1883-1965) and Max Weber (1881-1961), among others.

American Modernism is an artistic and cultural movement in the United States beginning at the turn of the 20th century, with a core period between World War I (1914-1918) and World War II (1939-1945). Like its European counterpart, American Modernism sought to better represent reality in a new, more industrialized world.

The photo above is of John Marin, who is known for his abstract landscapes and watercolors.
