Presented for the first time in Pittsburgh, this exhibit presents the work of eleven female artists who are deeply connected to Belgrade.
Belgrade is a city of 1.7 million people and the capital of Serbia. It is one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities in Europe where people have lived since around 5700BCE.
Shown together, the artworks produced by these women provide a snapshot of Belgrade’s productive and multilayered contemporary art scene, drawing on themes such as memory, the importance of place and the ability of the female body to reveal personal narratives.
