This award winning work is a wildly imaginative adaptation of the 1859 play “The Octoroon”.
Written by Irish actor and playwright Dion Boucicault (1820-1890), “The Octoroon” concerns the residents of a Louisiana plantation called Terrebonne, and sparked debates about the abolition of slavery and the role of theatre in politics. Award winning American playwright Branden Jacobs-Jenkins in 2014 to explore issues of identity.
The word “octoroon” refers to a person of one-eighth African ancestry. Presented by Kinetic Theatre.
