Drawing from the catalogue of Grammy Award-winning artist D’Angelo, this creative exaltation pays homage to the complexities of self-love and the Black love, while serving as a thumping mixtape celebrating our culture, family, and community.
Born in 1974, singer and songwriter Michael “D’Angelo” Archer was a pioneer in the neosoul movement of the 1990’s. This genre is the result of an unconventional merging of classic soul with contemporary rhythm & blues.
This is the latest project of Pittsburgh native Kyle Abraham and his company, A.I.M by Kyle Abraham. The company creates work galvanized by Black history and culture, and characterized by a sensual and provocative vocabulary that is informed by a vital blend of artistic influences.
