Wild drag artists Dracmorda and Swanthula Boulet (whose real names are secret) bring their hit reality television series to the stage for a special live show.
The slang word “drag” refers to a person (usually male) who assumes the exaggerated dress and mannerisms of the other gender for artistic or entertainment purposes. For centuries, men have dressed as women during traditional customs and rituals. In medieval England, when women were banned from appearing on stage, men in dresses was common in plays. The term “drag” first appeared in the 1870’s and may have derived from the sensation of long skirts trailing on the floor.
“The Boulet Brothers’ Dragula” debuted on the Canadian cable network OutTV in 2016. Each week’s episode has a group of drag artists compete in horror movie themed challenges. The surviving contestant at the end of the season is named the World’s Next Drag Supermonster.
This is an “all-ages” concert.
