This award-winning play — equal parts comedy, history, mystery and rock concert — celebrates the resilient bond of family and the enduring power of music.
“Cambodian Rock Band” brilliantly mixes musical styles to delve into the life of a young woman trying to take down a Khmer Rouge war criminal thirty years after her father fled Cambodia.
The Khmer Rouge were a violent, communist entity that ruthlessly conquered and ruled the Kingdom of Cambodia from 1970-1978. TheĀ regime was highly autocratic, xenophobic, paranoid and repressive. They practiced genocide as part of social engineering policies. An estimated 25% of the country’s population perished.
“Cambodian Rock Band” has a cast of six actor/musicians who turn a dark moment in human history into a tale of resilience and justice.
