This concert celebrates the social justice legacy of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. in Pittsburgh through vocal and instrumental music, as well as spoken word.

Minister and activist Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. (1929-1968) was a pioneering leader in the American Civil Rights Movement. He advocated using nonviolence and civil disobedience as tools for empowering African-Americans. Dr. King continues to be an inspiration for all minority groups seeking equality and respect.

Proceeds benefit the Kelly Strayhorn Theater and the Afro-American Music Institute. Attendees are also encouraged to bring a food item to donate to a local food pantry.
