Considered to be one of Pittsburgh’s finest drummers, David “Throck” Throckmorton is joined by the band Space Exchange in a concert honoring Ornette Coleman.

Saxophonist, violinist, trumpeter and composer Ornette Coleman (1930-2015) was one of the founders of free jazz, an approach that developed in the 1960’s when musicians attempted to change or break down jazz conventions, such as regular tempos, tones and chord changes. Coleman’s album “Sound Grammar” received the 2007 Pulitzer Prize for music.

A post-concert panel will discuss Coleman’s legacy. This is an “all-ages” concert.
