Duquesne University’s vaunted Dukes take on the Seahawks of Wagner College.
Founded under the name Pittsburgh Catholic College of the Holy Ghost in 1878, Duquesne University of the Holy Spirit is a private Catholic institution of higher learning. It was renamed in 1911 to honor Michel-Ange Duquesne de Menneville (1700-1778), who was the governor of France’s colonies in North America. All of the university’s teams are called The Dukes.
