Learn to make a fresh woodland wreath by hand.

A wreath is a decorative circle made with materials ranging from gold and precious stones to twigs and flowers. Wreaths were used by the Ancient Etruscan (900BCE to 27BCE) rulers as crowns. Through the succeeding eras, wreaths have been used to denote rank, achievement, the arrival of a seasonal event (such as harvest) or as a memorial to the deceased. Christmas wreaths first appeared in 16th century Germany and are often bright and colorful. The word “wreath” is rooted in the Old English word for “band.”

We will be using locally sourced greens in a few varieties to create beautiful full wreaths. You are welcome to sneak home some wire to add your own flair or foraged bits at home too. We will have ribbon available to add a small bow.
