Experience the drama in this once-in-a-lifetime portrayal of Austrian composer Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s (1756-1791) final musical contribution, performed by the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra and as uniquely interpreted by the orchestra’s music director Manfred Honeck.

Founded in 1895 by British composer, conductor and organist Frederic Archer (1838-1901), the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra is one of America’s oldest and most prestigious orchestras having performed around the world including a 2004 concert for Pope John Paul II (1920-2005).

Mozart’s “Requiem” is an epic masterpiece written on the composer’s deathbed is given a fresh, theatrical flair through resonant death bell tolls and harrowing texts interwoven throughout, with each medium used intentionally to look at the complexity of eternal rest.

The program also includes the world debut of a new work written by Scottish composer James MacMillan.
