The internationally acclaimed Chinese pianist joins the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra for a one-night-only program of piano pyrotechnics.
Founded in 1895 by British composer, conductor and organist Frederic Archer (1838-1901), the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra (PSO) is one of America’s oldest and most prestigious orchestras having performed around the world including a 2004 concert for Pope John Paul II (1920-2005).
Tonight’s highlight is a performance of the only piano concerto written by Norwegian composer Evard Grieg (1843-1907). Written when he was just age 24, it reflects Grieg’s interest in Norwegian folk music.
