Told by an ensemble of 10 female identifying performers, this play is a fresh take on the consequences of power, entitlement and masculinity.

“Men on Boats” is the true(ish) history of an 1869 expedition, when a one-armed captain and a crew of insane yet loyal volunteers set out to chart the course of the Colorado River.

Presented by 12 Peers Theater, a company founded in 2011 with the mission to provide challenging and engaging theater through contemporary works exploring myth and cultural identity. The company’s name is a reference to the Twelve Peers of Charlemagne, the legendary council of knights that supported Emperor Charlemagne (742CE-814CE) during his rule of Europe’s Carolingian Empire (800CE-888CE).
