This 2018 British-American film takes a fresh look at one of playwright William Shakespeare’s (1564-1616) more colorful characters as first re-imagined in a novel written by American author Lisa Klein.
Ophelia is a Danish noblewoman from the 1599 play “Hamlet” and a potential wife of the titular character. This version portrays Ophelia as a rebellious and motherless young woman sharply navigates the rules of power in Denmark all while struggling to choose between her true love and her own life.
