Pittsburgh’s legendary professional baseball team — the winner of five World Series trophies — is challenged by the New York Mets in a series of games.
With an impressive history dating to 1882, the team is often known by the nicknames “Bucs” and “Buccos,” derived from another name for pirates, buccaneers.
The first 20,000 patrons to Friday’s game will each receive a Pirates T-shirt. The game on Saturday evening concludes with fireworks. Sunday’s game is designated as a “Kids Day” with additional activities, including ice cream.
