Brilliant young Albanian cellist Narek Hakhnazaryan — he began winning international prizes in 2006 when he was still a teen —  joins the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra in a special holiday weekend performing classic waltzes and polkas.

Founded in 1895 by British composer, conductor and organist Frederic Archer (1838-1901), the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra (PSO) is one of America’s oldest and most prestigious orchestras having performed around the world including a 2004 concert for Pope John Paul II (1920-2005).

The program also features the PSO debut of a cello concerto written by Armenian-Russian composer Karen Khachaturian (1920-2011).
