The Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra performs the world debut of a new work commissioned by the symphony and written by contemporary American composer Hannah Ishizaki.
Founded in 1895 by British composer, conductor and organist Frederic Archer (1838-1901), the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra is one of America’s oldest and most prestigious orchestras having performed around the world including a 2004 concert for Pope John Paul II (1920-2005).
Hannah Ishizaki is a composer and sound artist based in New York City who seeks to foster connections between musicians and the audience through the explorations of the physicality of music performance. The program also features the local debut of a symphony written by Austrian composer Erich Wolfgang Korngold (1897-1957).
In addition, legendary pianist Emanuel Ax (pictured) performs a concerto written by Austrian composer Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (1756-1791).
