The Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra, an all-star cast of soloists and The Mendelssohn Choir of Pittsburgh join together for one of the most festive musical events of the year.

Written in English by German composer George Frideric Handel (1685-1759), the oratorio “Messiah” uses modest vocal and instrumental forces to briefly and beautifully tell the life of Christ (4 BCE – 30 CE) from the early Biblical prophecies through His crucifixion and resurrection.

Founded in 1908, the Mendelssohn Choir of Pittsburgh is a symphonic chorus comprised of volunteer singers and is named in honor of German composer Felix Mendelssohn (1809-1847). The choir combines the clarity of words with the mystical power of music so that the deepest and most universal of human expressions are magnified through a community of voices.
