The Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra launches its 2019-2020 season under the baton of conductor Manfred Honeck and featuring violinist James Ehnes.
Founded in 1895 by British composer, conductor and organist Frederic Archer (1838-1901), the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra (PSO) is one of America’s oldest and most prestigious orchestras having performed around the world including a 2004 concert for Pope John Paul II (1920-2005).
An international acclaimed musician since his early 20’s, Canadian-American violinist James Ehnes has repeatedly impressed critics with his immaculate technique and his musical integrity. James will perform a violin concerto written by Austrian composer Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (1756-1791.
The season opener features the Pittsburgh debut of a new work by American composer Julia Wolfe that was co-commissioned by the PSO.
