The classical fairy tale is brought delightfully to life by composer Richard Rodgers (1902-1979) and lyricist Oscar Hammerstein II (1895-1960) for this wonderful musical.

Cinderella is a folklore character with a long history dating to the Ancient Greeks. The most familiar iteration appeared in 17th Century Italy. Its basic story is that of a sweet but mistreated girl named Cinderella living with a selfish stepmother and her daughters. An opportunity for respect, recognition and love when the king announces the date for a ball — and the heroine gets some magical help.

This musical version was originally created as a 1957 television special that later became a hit Broadway show.
