In honor of the birthday of one of the biggest names in dance and cinema — Pittsburgh native Gene Kelly (1912-1967) — with a screening of his 1952 film “Singin’ in the Rain.”

“Singin’ in the Rain” is a fun musical about Hollywood’s challenging transition from silent to sound movies. The story centers around two pals (Gene Kelly and Donald O’Connor) help their studio produce their first talkie despite the selfish goals of an actress (Jean Hagan). The film provided a break-out role for actress Debbie Reynolds (1932-2016) and some of the most memorable screen dance numbers in cinema history.

After the screening, share some birthday sweets in honor of Pittsburgh’s beloved Gene!
