Henry Golding (pictured) portrays the title character in this 2021 film adapted from a popular line of G.I. Joe action figures.

The line of began in 1963 by inventor Stanley Weston (1933-2017) with the introduction of a soldier named Joe (the “G.I.” originated as “government issue” around 1915). It now includes a complete cast of characters featured in various media as a special missions team. Among them is a member known only as Snake Eyes, an expert in hand-to-hand combat.

This film tells the hero’s origin story, following him from an orphan boy to his recruitment into the G.I. Joe squad.

Admission is free. Times given are approximations; the film will begin at dusk. Presented by the City of Pittsburgh Department of Parks and Recreation (a.k.a. CitiParks) and sponsored by Dollar Bank.
