This riotously funny musical comedy is a fantastic adaptation of the riotously funny 1975 film of the same name.
That film is “Monty Python and the Holy Grail,” a spoof of the King Arthur legend by the surreal British comedy troupe Monty Python. The original legend involves an 5th Century monarch named Arthur who protects England from a foreign attack with the support of the Knights of the Round Table and seeks Christ’s famous drinking vessel known as the Holy Grail.
“Spamalot” has wild and outrageous fun with all of the King Arthur tropes by bringing in deliberately anachronistic elements such as a Las Vegas resort, references to various Broadway shows and even disco music.
