David Newell will discuss his involvement with “Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood”.

Produced in Pittsburgh, “Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood” (1968-2001) was a children’s educational television program distributed to public TV stations by the Public Broadcasting Service (PBS). The series was created and hosted by musician, puppeteer and minister Fred Rogers (1928-2003). The show’s gentle pace and kindly characters were ideally suited to teach kids ages 2 to 5 a variety of subjects.

Newell will also talk about the cultural impact of public television in Pittsburgh including the lasting legacy of Fred Rogers and “Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood.”

Present as part of the Pittsburgh Humanities Festival, a project co-produced by the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust that brings together internationally-renowned academics, artists and intellectual innovators.
