The groundbreaking 1891 German play “Frühlings Erwachen” written by bisexual dramatist Frank Wedekind (1864-1918) has been re-imagined as a daring musical.

Set in 19th century Germany, “Spring Awakening” uses songs and dialog to relate how a group of teens try to manage their burgeoning sexuality. These include the curious Wendia, the confused Moritz, the victimized Martha and the confident Melchoir. Sailing the rough waters takes each of them in different directions, some of them tragic.

The original 1891 play is considered a seminal work in the history of modern theater.
