Centered around singer, songwriter and musician Stephin Merritt, the five-member band Magnetic Fields delivers original pop-rock tunes in a cabaret style.

The band’s name was inspired by the 1920 novel Les Champs Magnetiques written by French authors Andre Breton (1896-1966) and Philippe Soupault (1897-1990). Merritt’s recognizable lyrics are often about love (he is openly gay) and with irregular or neutral gender roles, and are by turns ironic, tongue-in-cheek, bitter and humorous.

Presented by the Andy Warhol Museum.
