Set in turn-of-the-century Pittsburgh, this ballet is a local holiday tradition that features with more than 150 dancers, radiant scenery, astounding magic tricks and new surprises each season.

“The Nutcracker” made its debut in 1892 featuring an eternal score written by noted Russian composer Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky (1840-1893). Set on Christmas Eve, its the tale of a little girl named Clara who receives a magical nutcracker that leads her into the radiant Land of Enchantment — a place brimming with virtuosic dances from faraway lands.

Presented by the Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre, which has been staging professional ballet in Pittsburgh since 1968.
