Come learn about the rich history of Pittsburgh’s North Side — the former Allegheny City — while walking along Three Rivers Heritage Trail.

Allegheny City was an independent municipality located across the Allegheny River from Downtown Pittsburgh between 1788 and 1907. Many of the original inhabitants were veterans of the American Civil War (1861-1865) who received land as payment for their service. Many structures iconic to Allegheny City remain.

Three Rivers Heritage Trail is an urban path paralleling Pittsburgh’s riverbanks.

Presented as part of Doors Open Pittsburgh, which celebrates Pittsburgh’s unique heritage by providing visual storytelling and education inside iconic and newly designed buildings. For more information, call (412) 583-1424.
