Take this wonderful opportunity for an inside peak at the beauty of Trinity Cathedral.

Trinity Cathedral is a historic house of worship and the center for the Episcopal Church in the Pittsburgh region. The cathedral was designed by architect Gordon W. Lloyd (1832-1905) with an exterior featuring English Gothic Style — a romanticized interpretation of a style that first appeared in 12th century Europe. The most easily recognizable elements of the Gothic are the pointed arch, pinnacles and intricately detailed windows known as rose windows.

On this tour you will have the opportunity to hear about its many interesting architectural points of interest including a series of Hunt stained glass windows and the Bertram Grosvenor Goodhue pulpit. The tour will also include the Trinity Cathedral burial ground which is the oldest unreconstructed historic site in the City of Pittsburgh.

There will be a second tour at 3:00 p.m. Presented as part of Doors Open Pittsburgh, which celebrates Pittsburgh’s unique heritage by providing visual storytelling and education inside iconic and newly designed buildings. For more information, call (412) 583-1424.
