Enter the unique and fascinating world of the Vikings through this remarkable exhibit.
The term Viking is the modern word for the seagoing people from Northern Europe who from the late 8th to the late 11th centuries raided, pirated, traded and settled what is now the kingdoms of Norway, Denmark and Sweden.
A highlight of the exhibit is a full-sized reconstruction of a Viking ship. Archaeological finds show that the Vikings built a range of different kinds of vessels: large, impressive longships, sea-faring cargo vessels, and smaller boats for fishing and transport in calmer waters.
