Playwright Heidi Schreck’s engaging, funny and thought-provoking play takes a unique look at American history with a special focus on the Ninth Amendment.

The Ninth Amendment of the United States Constitution states that rights not listed in the document are retained by the people. The amendment has rarely played any role in U.S. constitutional law until the 1980’s and is now a subject of debate.

Heidi Schreck begins the play by communicating her story to the audience through the lens of both herself in the present and narrating her performance of her fifteen-year-old self as a Constitutional debater in 1989. Throughout the show, Heidi explores issues such as immigration, women’s rights and domestic abuse by highlighting what she sees as the pitfalls in America’s primary document.
