Picklesburgh is a culinary celebration that goes beyond the dill pickle to include international dishes, prepared foods and artisan cocktails that feature pickled ingredients.

A pickle is actually a small cucumber that has been preserved in a substance such as vinegar. Historians believe that the first pickles were created in what is now Iraq around 2400 BCE.

This festival is a reflection of the legacy of the H. J. Heinz Company. Founded in 1869 near Pittsburgh, one of Heinz’s first successful products was packaged sweet pickles.

Activities will be held in multiple locations, especially on two of the city’s bridges.
