Rockwell Hall is home to Duquesne University’s undergraduate and graduate schools.

Duquesne University is a private, Catholic university established in 1878. It is named in honor of Michel-Ange Duquesne de Menneville (1700-1778), who was the governor general of France’s colonies in North America. He built the first fort at the point where the Ohio River forms and where Pittsburgh began.

Rockwell Hall was completed in 1959 and is named for Colonel Willard Rockwell (1888-1978), an alumnus and an extraordinary fundraiser. Colonel Rockwell served in the United States Army during World War I (1914-1918) and later founded the manufacturing conglomerate Rockwell International.

The 11-story, cement and glass building is also home to the Duquesne University Small Business Development Center (SBDC) which offers no-cost, confidential consulting services and training workshops for small businesses and those who are thinking of starting a business in southwestern Pennsylvania.
