For decades, this building was home to the Pittsburgh branch of the Saks Fifth Avenue chain of department stores.
The company began in 1902 by Andrew Saks (1847-1912) as is famous for its elegant flagship store on New York City’s storied Fifth Avenue.
Saks’ Pittsburgh store, which closed in 2012, is notable for its sleek black tile façade and corner entrance.
