This classic 1953 Japanese film is considered a signature work of legendary Japanese writer/director Yasujiro Ozu (1903-1963).

Offering an insight into the complex parent-child relationship, the film follows an aging couple’s trip to Tokyo to visit their grown kids. Sadly, they soon come to the bittersweet realization that do their children not need them any more.

Presented as part of the Pittsburgh Japanese Film Fest, a celebration of Japanese culture through the cinematic arts.
