English attorney, author and lecturer Guy Hollinworth steps out of the world of intellectual property law and into the unreal world of magic.

Guy first became interested in magic in 1987 at the age of 13 having been inspired by American magician Channing Pollock (1926-2006). He has since become one of London’s most skilled magicians specializing in a unique and original style of card conjuring. Guy’s best known creation is his trick “The Reformation”, in which a signed playing card is torn into four pieces and then visibly restored one piece at a time.

“The Expert at the Card Table,” is directed by award winning actor and magic hobbyist Neil Patrick Harris. The show relates the fascinating story of the 1902 book The Expert at the Card Table, which is considered essential reading for any card magician.

Over 75-riveting minutes, Guy shares some of this rare book’s secrets with demonstrations of unfathomable conjuring and incomparable card control. He also recounts the tragic mystery of conman Milton Franklin Andrews, who took his own life in 1905 as authorities were closing in. Among the fine clothing, stacks of cash and playing cards in the dingy boarding house where his body was discovered, the police found a copy of The Expert at the Card Table.
