Meet in Market Square to test your strength by hoisting a filled stein.
The stein is a hinged beer mug that first appeared in Germany in the 1300’s. Primarily made of pewter or stoneware; the word “stein” roughly translates into English as “stone.”
The competitor who can hold their stein with proper form for the longest without being disqualified by the judge will be considered the winner.
Presented as part of Oktoberfest Pittsburgh, a multi-day community event inspired by the annual beer festival held in Germany since 1810. The goal is to honor the rich cultural traditions of the original Oktoberfest while showcasing the best of Pittsburgh’s local talent and businesses.
