Gifted pianist Janice Carissa partners with the Westmoreland Symphony Orchestra in a program dedicated to the music of Aaron Copland and George Gershwin for Valentine’s Day.
Composer and conductor Aaron Copland (1900-1990) is credited with defining what is American music. His works often evoke the vast American landscape and pioneer spirit. Composer and pianist George Gershwin (1898-1937) wrote some of the most beloved songs in American history including the remarkable 1924 “Rhapsody in Blue.”
Established in 1969, the Westmoreland Symphony Orchestra has become one of the region’s most respected music institutions.
