This program will help teens learn about trailblazing artist Alma Woodsey Thomas (1891-1978).
Thomas is best known for creating “exuberant”, colorful, abstract paintings. She is the first African American woman to be included in the White House’s permanent art collection
Teens will be encouraged to take inspiration from their own experiences, environment and feelings to create a painting using a similar art style.
