Missouri’s devilish Pentagram String Band are definitely not your father’s bluegrass group. Instead, they fuse elements of gothic folk, punk and thrash metal into what might otherwise be traditional bluegrass.
The band’s name refers to the star-like shape in geometry called the pentagram. It is ancient, having appeared on pottery dating from about 3500BCE. The shape has been associated with occultists of the 19th century and devil worship since at least the 1960’s.
Pentagram’s music reflects this latter legacy, with songs about cannibalism, misery and murder.
This is an “all-ages” concert.
