Known for celebrating the rich Irish heritage of their hometown (Quincy, Massachusetts), the band Dropkick Murphys merge Celtic musical traditions into their daring punk rock tunes to create distinctive style.
The band takes its name from professional wrestler John Murphy (1912-1977), a Massachusetts native who was known by the nickname Dropkick. He later operated a well-regarded sanitarium for recovering alcoholics.
