Puerto Rican professional baseball player and humanitarian Roberto Clemente (1934-1972; pictured) spent most of his sports career with the Pittsburgh Pirates. Clemente faced racism throughout his career but set and broke many records. He died in an airplane crash while delivering emergency relief to earthquake victims in Nicaragua.
