Celebrate this year’s ReelQ festival, which has been amplifying LGBTQ+ stories through film since 1982.
The evening’s first film stars Pittsburgh native and Academy Award winning actor F. Murray Abraham (pictured). Released this year, “Bookends” is the warm and funny story of a young gay man who must redirect his life toward caring for his aging grandparents.
Later is a screening of the acclaimed 2025 South African film “Black Burns Fast.” Made primarily in English, the film centers on the challenges facing a black teen and her friends as they attend a prestigious — and majority white — boarding school.
Between the screenings will be a party offering complimentary refreshments (including non-alcohol) in the theater’s popular Bierport.
