Cameron Crowe wrote and directed this 2000 film, a wonderful piece of 1970’s nostalgia.
Brilliant teen prodigy William Miller (Patrick Fugit) dreams of becoming a rock journalist. A series of unexpected events results in William going on tour with a rising rock band and writing an article about them for Rolling Stone magazine. He must now navigate a world of groupies, drugs and sex despite the objections from his overprotective mother.
Like William, filmmaker Crowe began his career at age 16 writing about the Allman Brothers Band for Rolling Stone.
