Kids are welcome to try something new in this workshop — batiking.

Batik is an artistic technique that uses a pen-like tool to apply wax to fabric. This method allows the artisan to color selectively by soaking the cloth in one color, removing the wax with boiling water, and repeating if multiple colors are desired. Batiking originated on the Indian Ocean island of Java in the 6th Century CE.

This workshop is for participants in Sixth through Eighth Grade.
