2019 marks the fiftieth anniversary of the historic Stonewall Riots and this award winning 1984 documentary film looks at life before that world-changing event.

On June 28, 1969, a raid was conducted by the New York City Police Department on a gay bar called the Stonewall Inn. The city’s gay community, frustrated and angry with years of homophobia and other raids, took to the streets. This event marked the start to what is now the LGBT Rights Movement.

Co-director and producer Robert Rosenberg will appear on-screen for a Skype Q&A following the film. Afterwards, Jellyfish (disc jockeys Steph Tsong, Ricky Moslen and Adam Shuck) will host a late-night, queer dance party in the museum’s entrance space, weaving together Italo Disco, New Wave and Post-Punk tracks with video and visual collage.

A cash bar will be available. Registration is required.
