The brilliant Alloy Orchestra performs a new live score to this rarely screened 1926 Douglas Fairbanks Sr. (pictured above) silent movie.

Written by and starring Douglas Fairbanks (1883-1939), “Black Pirate” combines a gripping plot with some of the most gorgeous footage of the silent era. Fairbanks is the Black Pirate who sets out to avenge the death of his father. Two of Fairbanks’ most memorable scenes are in this film: sliding down the sail of a ship on the point of a knife, and the totally surreal attack of the underwater army.

“Black Pirate” is one of the films shot in color. Presented as part of three Rivers Film Festival, the largest and longest running annual film festival in Southwestern Pennsylvania. For more information, call (412) 361-0873.
