Carnegie Mellon’s vaunted Tartans are challenged by the Warriors of Rochester University.

Founded 1900 as a technical school by industrialist Andrew Carnegie (1835-1919) — and merged with the Mellon Institute in 1967 — Carnegie Mellon University is one of the nation’s leading private research universities. The team’s name is a loving reference to Carnegie’s Scottish heritage: a tartan is a patterned cloth (often worn below the waist) to signify clan membership.
