Chali 2na and Cut Chemist have been inseparable for 35 years and share the stage again this evening.

Bearing an identifiably deep baritone voice, rapper and painter Charles “Chali 2na” Stewart is a pioneer in alternative West Coast hip-hop by fusing together elements of rock and Latin sounds. His stage name is a fun reference to Charlie the Tuna, the deep-voiced animated mascot of StarKist Tuna. Chali2na is also an accomplished graffiti artist.

Disc jockey Lucas “Cut Chemical” MacFadden began developing a taste for music and rhythms from around the world as a teenager. As a result, while keeping his passion for the hip hop tradition, Cut Chemical pushes boundaries and testing musical palates while introducing audiences to obscure musical finds.

The two have kept busy with their own separate careers while always finding time to collaborate. It’s a 35 year old friendship that manifests into music and art.

This free, outdoor concert is being staged at the intersection of Stanwix Street and Fort Duquesne Boulevard. Presented as part of the Three Rivers Arts Festival, a 10-day celebration of visual and performing arts produced by the nonprofit Pittsburgh Cultural Trust and primarily sponsored by local financial firm Dollar Bank.
