In lieu of an actual city hall, Pittsburgh’s major city government offices share this unique building with Allegheny County’s major government offices. Learn about the rich culture of Pittsburgh by touring the building’s historic State Rooms and rarely seen spaces including the Archival Vault.

The City-County Building was designed by noted architect Henry Hornbostel (1867-1961), who designed many iconic structures in New York City and Pittsburgh, including 22 on the National Register of Historic Places.

Open in 1917, the building is an impressive piece of architecture. A key element is the main hall, which is surrounded by gilded classical columns 47 feet high, supporting a vaulted ceiling of terra cotta tile.

Admission is free.
